Fresh, food-inspired brand redesign and modern WordPress website better serves clients, solicits donations, and attracts younger volunteers.
Sooke Meals on Wheels is a meal delivery program available to anyone who is unable to provide meals for themselves due to physical, mental or medical limitations, regardless of age or income.
We created a new brand design that embodies the organization’s values of health, community and connection, anchored by dignity and trust. We then thoroughly applied the new brand design throughout a new WordPress website. In addition to researching, organizing and creating content, the process involved crafting streamlined, easy-to-understand online applications for both clients and volunteers.
The result is a modern, responsive website that serves clients who may have cognitive impairments; solicits donations from local corporate and individual donors; and attracts younger, middle-age volunteers.
Brand Design
As always, we began our process with a deep dive into who the organization serves and how, as well as who it would like to attract to help its mission.
Audiences
Logo Design
Pairing the small capitals and italic styles of friendly, rounded sans-serif typeface Zain creates a sense of motion. The accompanying circular symbol simultaneously evokes a plate and wheel, while also subtly shaping an abstract “S” for Sooke — formed by the fork and spoon arrangement, crafted from Zain’s proportions. Together, they form a thoughtfully cohesive logo that is friendly, modern and professional, while inherently conveying meaning.
Colour Palette
This fresh food-inspired colour palette of salad greens with accents of carrot orange and cabbage purple is vibrant, friendly and cheerful. Complementary hues of blue and slate greys anchor the palette, conveying dignity, organization and trustworthiness.
Imagery
The selection of imagery combines fresh, wholesome foods with people to convey the connection of health and community.
Caprina guided us through every stage of the project. She took the time to understand our organization, our audience, and our goals, and translated those needs into a website that is both visually appealing and highly functional.
