Brand & Web for Local Non-Profits
Hello! I’m Caprina Valentine and I run the one-woman studio that is Caprina Designs.
I offer over 25 years experience creating and building brands and websites for local Vancouver Island small businesses and organizations in healthcare, recreation, retail, arts and tourism.
Clarity. Cohesiveness. Creativity. Collaboration. Customization. Consistency. Connection. Conversion. These are the guiding principles of my work.
I aim to build brands that are creative, custom and cohesive; communicate with clarity and consistency; and result in connection and conversion. All of this radiates professionalism and builds awareness, recognition and loyalty.
I love long term relationships.
I love working with clients as part of their long-term marketing team, offering full brand deployment to maintain consistency across all print and digital communications — from brochures, packaging and signage to websites, email marketing and social media. I have worked with most of my clients for over a decade, building strong connections. I enjoy getting to know clients and their businesses or organizations in-depth and collaboratively growing and evolving their brands over time.
I am a third-generation local Sooke resident.
As a third-generation Sooke resident, I have seen considerable change in our small town over the last 40 years. I have an appreciation and respect for the local non-profit organizations that help shape our community’s past, present and future.
I have experience working with local nonprofits in arts, culture and healthcare.
Notably, I have worked with the Victoria Fringe Festival, Langham Court Theatre, Cycle of Life Tour (Victoria Hospice), Ayre Manor and most recently, Sooke Lions Club. (See Case Studies.)
I offer brand and web services in a VIP Session format, 100% focused on one client at a time.
VIP Sessions are ideal for collaborative, quick turnaround within a one-day intensive. Larger projects such as a website are accommodated by booking multiple consecutive days. This model eliminates the stress and scattered threads of back-and-forth emails and accelerates projects that would usually drag on over months. This launches your new brand and website promptly, so your organization can begin making a more immediate impact.
Case Studies
Following is a selection of portfolio case studies, relevant in key ways: they are for non-profit organizations, specific to local interests, and/or are of similar project scope.
Cycle of Life Tour
BRAND • PRINT • APPAREL • WEB
I designed elevated branding, print materials, rider gear and a website that attracts dedicated cyclists and national-brand sponsors year after year, raising over $2.3 Million for hospice care across Vancouver Island, including Sooke Hospice, since 2011.
Ayre Manor Seniors Housing
BRAND EXPANSION • WEBSITE
I designed and continue to maintain the website that increases awareness and serves as public outreach for Ayre Manor and its managing non-profit Sooke Elderly Citizens Housing Society (SECHS).
Sooke Lions Club
WEBSITE
I designed a modern website that promotes Sooke Lions’ community events and projects, educates the public about the organization, and encourages young people to join the membership or volunteer, all while honouring International Lions Club brand standards.
Sooke.org Sooke Community Guide
BRAND • PRINT • WEBSITE • EMAIL
As a passion project and extension of Caprina Designs since the year 2000, I designed a new brand, print collateral and trade show booth for participation in Sookarama 2024. I continue to market and grow the brand presence with an email newsletter.
Langham Court Theatre
BRAND • PRINT • WEBSITE
As the membership and audience aged out, I designed the brand, website and all print collateral — including season brochures, posters and signage — that attracted a younger, middle-age audience to buy tickets, audition, volunteer and donate to community theatre.
Kaleidoscope Theatre for Young People
PRINT DESIGN
Kaleidoscope’s GM wanted someone who gets theatre and understands how their audience needs information presented, as demonstrated by my decade of work for Langham Court Theatre. Based on an established brand design, I created a cohesive design system for brochures, posters, signage and an ad campaign to promote the 2023 season.
