Brand & Web Design
Process
I do things a little differently. While most brand and website designers will juggle multiple projects, I only book one client project at a time to give it 100% of my focus.
Getting Started

1. Connection Call
We have a 30-60 minute call to discuss your business, needs, priorities, project scope, deadline, and budget. If your needs go beyond one of my packages or you want a more in-depth audit of your brand or website, I recommend a Brand & Web Plan Session.

2. Booking & Deposit
After determining the scope of work, we schedule your project. A 50% deposit is required to hold/book your project dates in my calendar. This deposit becomes non-refundable within 14 calendar days of the project start date.

3. Prep Work
Yes, you will have a little homework. Upon booking, I will provide you with a Brand & Web Questionnaire and Dropbox folder for sharing any assets such as text documents, images or other project files. These prep tasks must be completed one week before project start date and the Project Direction Call.

4. Project Direction Call
Up to one week before the project start date, we review your questionnaire and project assets together to ensure we are in alignment about the project and creative direction. The time between this call and the project start date gives us a little buffer in case any questions arise or assets are missing… and lets my creative-it-tea begin brewing!
Following is an example process and timeline for a Brand Week and up to 10-page WordPress website.
Phase I
Brand Design
So we’ve had our project direction call, I have all your brand inspo, and we’re raring to go on an illustrated logo.
Sub-Projects: If once we’re done your brand guide, you want brochures or other print collateral, we can add-in VIP Days as needed.
Already have a logo?
A brand is so much more than just a logo.
If your previous designer provided a Brand Style Guide, we’re good to go!
If all you have is a logo, I offer an Accelerated Brand VIP Day, where we review your brand strategy and if your existing logo is serving your goals. If yes, then we build out the remaining Brand Kit assets:
- Mini Brand Style Guide outlining logo usage, typography, and colour palette with number values for print and web
- Logo Suite of variations for different uses or placements (e.g. horizontal, vertical, square, small icon) in formats for print and web
- Fonts Package
Phase 2
Website

1. Setup & Wireframe
We setup the WordPress core and framework with basic navigation menus. We wireframe all pages with draft or placeholder content in basic formatting (headings, paragraphs, bold, italics, etc.), as well as preliminary calls-to-action (CTAs) and user experience (UX) flow to encourage exploration between pages. This stage may also include placeholders for imagery. This typically takes 1-2 days. Client review/approves wireframes.
2. Design
I create a visual Design Concept for the homepage, which establishes the visual rhythm for the entire website.
- Setup and apply brand visual identity from an already complete Brand Style Guide that includes web colour palette, typography, design elements, etc. (*)
- Design header and footer; add logo, mobile logo, favicon, etc. that appears across the entire website
- Design homepage, which establishes the basis for the rest of the website
3. Development
We write/edit your text content — factoring in conversion and search engine optimization — and layout pages with content and calls-to-action.
- Optimize and insert images
- Write and/or edit text with SEO in mind
- Additional search engine optimization customizations
- Add CTAs (calls-to-action) and content interlinking to lead viewers through your website
- Client review/approve content
Launch
We do a full website walkthrough, finishing touches on content and final approvals.
- Content finishing touches
- Testing of mobile-responsive design
- Final approvals and edits — can be done live on a call!
- Client walkthrough call of Admin area (editor back-end)
- Launch! Update domain record and/or migrate website to domain root
- Finalization and testing of contact form, if applicable
- Invoice & Pay
