About
Clarity. Cohesiveness. Creativity. Collaboration. Customization. Consistency. Connection. Conversion.
These are the guiding principles of the branding and websites I create for small businesses and organizations.
Hi, I’m Caprina Valentine.
I offer over 25 years experience designing and developing brands and websites that are creative, custom and cohesive; communicate with clarity and consistency; and result in connection and conversion.
All of this radiates professionalism (makes your business look good) and builds awareness, recognition and loyalty — leading to a sustainable business.
I love long-term relationships.
I love working with clients as part of their long-term marketing team, offering full brand deployment to maintain consistency across all print and digital communications — from brochures, packaging and signage to websites, email marketing and social media.
I have worked with most of my clients for over a decade, building strong connections. I enjoy getting to know clients and their businesses in depth and collaboratively growing and evolving their brands over time.
My Story
I began in March 1998 at age 15 tutoring people how to use computers when the Internet was just blossoming into the realm of mass awareness. At the time, I wanted to become a lawyer and did my high school work experience at a law firm. When the lawyers there asked me what I currently did for work, I said, “I tutor people to use computers.” And guess what they said: “Stick with computers.”
So I picked up web technology and never looked back. I am completely self-taught in website design and development, before there were courses and you just had to RTFM (read documentation). At age 18, I won the 2001 Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award from the Westshore Chamber of Commerce. Around this time, I expanded my skills to also offer graphic design services, growing along with each new client. I took two years of business and psychology courses at the University of Victoria and continue to learn independently, since gaining extensive experience in marketing.
I enjoy my career. It’s creative and challenging. I meet good people doing interesting things. My design style and technical abilities continue to evolve with every project. I enjoy learning new ways of solving problems and am continually learning, testing and developing practical solutions for clients.
I once again live in my hometown of Sooke, BC. I believe in supporting local Vancouver Island businesses, events and the arts scene, in which I participate with my art photography. I also enjoy a west coast lifestyle including gardening, cooking and outdoor adventures with my two Blue Heelers.
It is a personal goal to volunteer my skills for at least one project per year. I currently do branding and webwork for the Cycle of Life Tour, a fundraiser for Vancouver Island hospice care. In the past, I have helped the Victoria Fringe Theatre Festival (2005-2014), and several non-profit organizations in my hometown of Sooke.
