Basic Brand Design

A bespoke brand design for an artisan creator of crochet critters.

Brand Backstory

Creator Laura Burgess and I have worked together for over a decade — first with Kaboodles Toy Store, then with Kids Market — so I was honoured and excited when she asked for help with a brand upgrade for her own Passion Project, Walk The Twine.

The Challenge

Laura had a limited budget, but also a very clear vision — and she had a previous business card she liked as an example. So we did a Mini Brand Design in one VIP Day.

Design Process

A new yarn-ball illustration is accompanied by a very yarn-like Artecallya Script, paired with Arima Madurai for the logo. Arima Madurai was chosen because it’s also a web-friendly font, so it can be used for Laura’s website in the future. We kept, but refined, the same brand colour palette of bold teal, soft turquoise and warm greys.


So within one VIP Day, I was able to redesign her logo and business card PLUS provide her with a Mini Brand Style Guide that outlined her fonts and colours for consistency going forward, as well as a Logo Package with all the formats she’ll need for print, web and social media.
